The River....

The Lower Mountain Fork River is a tailwater that originates from Broken Bow Lake and runs through beautiful Beavers Bend State Park in Southeastern Oklahoma. The river is located just North of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. This river is a year round fishery that supports Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and Walleye; it is know for some of the best trout fishing in the South.

The cold, clear and fertile water supports a variety of insects and crustaceans and baitfish. This rich food base ensures that the trout are healthy, hard fighting, and rapidly growing. The river has both stocked and native trout. There are two distinct waterways within the 11 mile section that supports trout. Spillway Creek is the uppermost portion of the fishery, this feeder creek is fast and rocky. It's rapidly plunging waters are more reminiscent of a Rocky Mountain stream than a Southern Trout Tailwater. Spillway creek is located upstream of the hydroelectric discharge, therefore flow usually remain stable and safe to wade at all times. The Main River Channel varies from fast, shallow and rocky to slow, deep and weedy.

The Lower Mountain Fork River offers a wide variety of water types. Anglers who prefer nymphing, dry fly or streamer fishing (or all three) can usually find trout action any day of the year.
